Sui Wallets Ranked: Seven Real Options for SUI

A Sui wallet is the account you use to hold native SUI, approve transactions and connect to apps. The choice depends on the job: a first wallet, a hardware signer, an open-source extension and a multichain app solve different problems. The ranking below compares suitability for those jobs. We checked the Sui wallet directory and product descriptions; verify current platform support before installing.

Start with the account recovery method and the device you actually use. The order favors a clear Sui experience for the stated use case, rather than counting supported coins.

Slush is built by Mysten Labs and replaced the earlier Sui Wallet branding. It supports a recovery phrase account as well as zkLogin accounts using supported identity providers. These are different recovery models; record which one you chose before transferring value. Slush Links can share a claimable asset link, but check the terms of any claim before sending it. The official wallet walkthrough describes its installation and first transaction.

Ledger and Keystone belong in a different category: the signing device helps keep keys away from a normal browser session. Hardware does not make an unsafe app approval safe. Check the transaction and recipient on the device and use official integration instructions. Suiet has a narrower Sui focus and publishes its code, which is useful if an inspectable extension matters more than a single multichain dashboard. Nightly’s auto-confirm feature can reduce repeated prompts for trusted apps, but unattended approvals enlarge the consequences of a malicious or mistaken action. The Sui Foundation’s wallet comparison explains those distinctions.

Which wallet should a first-time Sui user install?

Slush is the clearest starting point if you want to test a native SUI transfer and then connect to Sui apps. It is built for this ecosystem and offers an extension, mobile app and web interface. Choose the recovery method before depositing: an account created through zkLogin is not the same account as one generated from a recovery phrase. Write down which sign-in you actually used. A user who already has an established multichain workflow may prefer OKX Wallet or Backpack, but should explicitly switch to the Sui account before copying an address.

When does hardware support outweigh convenience?

Ledger or Keystone may suit assets you do not need to move frequently. Check the Sui integration and the exact transaction types supported by the companion wallet, including staking or app connections if you need them. For an active trader, a small hot-wallet balance and a separate hardware account can make day-to-day approvals easier to review. A hardware screen cannot tell you that a malicious contract is economically harmless: you still need to understand the action being signed.

What should you compare beyond a feature list?

Use a small real transaction to test installation, recovery, receiving and signing rather than relying only on screenshots. Check these questions for any wallet in the ranking:

  • Does the Sui mainnet account expose a native SUI receiving address?
  • Can you recover this exact account on a second device using your chosen method?
  • Are the recipient and asset legible before you sign a transfer?
  • Does the wallet support the dApp, staking or hardware flow you actually need?
  • Is the app or extension linked from its verified publisher rather than a search advertisement?

The table ranks fit for these tasks, not audit quality, customer support or absolute safety. Product interfaces change; a feature available in a mobile release may arrive later in a browser extension.

Pick the right address before you fund it

SUI is the native asset on Sui. A wallet displaying several chains does not turn a Sui address into an address on every network. In a multichain wallet, switch to Sui mainnet and copy its receive address; in the sending account, choose a withdrawal method that actually sends native SUI on Sui. A custodial platform may support the token but suspend or omit a particular withdrawal network.

For a first deposit, check the first and last characters after pasting, send a modest test amount when practical, and keep some SUI available for subsequent gas. If you hold USDT elsewhere and want SUI in a self-custody wallet, swap USDT for SUI only after confirming the source USDT network and the destination Sui address in the order. Our network guide shows how to verify the resulting transaction.

Set up, send and recover without guesswork

  1. Reach the download through the provider’s site or the Sui directory. Check the publisher on the app-store or extension listing.
  2. Create an account and identify its recovery method. A seed phrase, hardware recovery sheet and social-login account are not interchangeable backups.
  3. Protect the recovery material offline and test that you can reopen the wallet before making a large deposit. Never type a phrase into a “support” form.
  4. Set the wallet to Sui mainnet, copy its receive address and verify the asset and withdrawal chain at the sender.
  5. When sending, inspect the final asset, amount, recipient and transaction request in the wallet. A connection request is distinct from signing a transfer.

A Sui address can hold several Sui assets, but an exchange deposit address may credit only specified tokens. Do not assume that because a personal wallet displays a token, a third-party service will accept it. The ecosystem map explains the kinds of apps for which a wallet connection is useful. The SUI exchange overview covers available acquisition routes.

Read a wallet prompt before approving it

A wallet connection lets an app see an address and request actions. A signed transaction actually changes state. When a prompt refers to a package, object or coin type that you do not recognize, pause and compare it with the action you initiated in the app. A swap output estimate in an interface is not a substitute for the final wallet confirmation. If the app offers automatic approvals, first understand the scope and expiration of that setting.

Two errors are especially common. Importing a recovery phrase into a lookalike extension gives away the account, and sending native SUI to a service that credits only a wrapped or different-chain token can leave the deposit unsupported. A small test can reveal address or network mistakes, although it does not prove a service will safely handle a larger amount.

FAQ

It holds the credentials for controlling assets recorded on Sui; the phone displays balances and signs requests. Losing the phone is survivable only if your chosen account method can be restored securely.

Do not assume so. Social-login and passphrase accounts use different recovery flows. Follow the account-specific recovery instructions before relying on either method.

It depends on the companion wallet and the app’s integration. Confirm support for the exact action and inspect what the device shows before signing.

Check the sender’s withdrawal status and transaction digest, the selected network and the receiving address. A completed transaction on another chain will not automatically become native SUI on Sui.
